SWRG began with a project funded by Geoscientists Without Borders

Originally, the focus of a Geoscientists Without Borders project was to examine brackish water sources near Lake Chilwa. But, after the team made a site visit to the lake and the nearby Likapa Village, they decided to visit several other villages. From those site visits, four villages were selected for further study.
Each of the locations presented unique questions and challenges, but each village now has an accessible, productive borehole.
